Edgar M. Cousins, 85, of Ft. Pierce, FL, died at his home on December 22, 2013.
Born in Old Town, Maine, Ed was a resident of the Treasure Coast since 1991, moving from New City, NY.
Ed graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, NH in 1948, Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME in 1952 and University of Maine with a Master’s in Education in 1956. A true educator he taught school in Milford, ME, Pawling, NY and 30 years in Scarsdale, NY.
Ed served in the Korean War with the U.S. Army.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Catharine Cousins, two brothers, John and Richard Cousins and his sister Edith Parker.
Ed attended the Community Church of Vero Beach serving as an usher for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Cousins of Ft. Pierce, FL; two daughters, Catharine and partner, Donna Firriolo, of Westwood, NJ, Elizabeth and husband, Jack Hanlon of Boston, MA, and son Norman and wife Kristina, of Highland, NY. He is also survived by seven beloved grandchildren: Emily, Sarah and Jessica Cousins, Gina and Lisa Firriolo and Evan and Eamon Hanlon, and also his sister, Florence, of Topsham, ME and brother Herbert of Sarasota, FL and many nieces and nephews.
