Betty Krieger

Betty P. Wentz Krieger, 90, of North Hutchinson Island, FL, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on January 20, 2014. She was born March 11, 1923 in Windber, PA to the late Irene Repine Wentz and Orange Beal Wentz. Betts completed cosmetology school in 1960 and later opened Salon Mamselle in Johnstown, PA where she resided. She was a member of Roxbury United Methodist Church in Johnstown, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was active in the U.M. Women’s Society. In 1971, Betts and her husband retired to Buffalo Mills to enjoy the country life where she attended Bedford Presbyterian Church. She began wintering in Florida and attended Northside Baptist Church in Ft. Pierce. She resided in Cranberry Township, PA, with her daughter and continued gathering more friends for several years.

She is survived by her children, Carol (C.J.) Neuhoff, Bernard (Annette) Krieger, Gary Krieger and Brenda Krieger; sister, Dorothy Roseman McQuaide; brother, Delbert Wentz; grandchildren, Kim (Gary) Wallace, Beth Keebler, Eve (Ryan) VanBuren, Bernee (Bill) Stauffer, Tiffany, Crystal, Ali and Caci Krieger; great-grandchildren, Danielle (Blake) Wallace Miner, William Wallace, Isabel, Indiana, Isaac and Ivan VanBuren and Joshua Keebler and great great-granddaughter, Reagan Marie Miner. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Bernard W. Krieger; son, Daniel L. Krieger; brothers, Cyrus Wentz, Orange Wentz, Jr.; sister, Harriet Lohr and great-granddaughter, Lindsie Irene Wallace.

Betts led a very active life and loved entertaining family and friends. She was quite famous for her extravagant home cooking topped with assorted pies. Betts also enjoyed bicycling, horseback riding, skiing, traveling and shopping. Spending winters at ocean resorts and beachcombing was a favorite past time. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Betty P.
