Marwood “Marv” Ruschell, 83, of Okeechobee, Florida passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Marv was a resident of Florida for 60 years and 35 of those in Okeechobee, coming from Washington, Pa. Mr. Ruschell served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the inventor of the Vac-Alert System for swimming pools. He loved boating and was a member of the Masonic Lodge/ Scottish Rites for 50 years and also was a volunteer Firefighter for Ft. Drum, FL Mr. Ruschell is survived by his loving wife; Norma of Okeechobee, Florida, being married for 64 years. Two daughters; Janet Ruschell and Paula Baxley and a Granddaughter, Mariah Baxley, all of Okeechobee. Mr. Ruschell was raised at an early age by Joe and Syvilla Ruschell along with his “brother” George. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Ruschell is predeceased by his parents, John and Philemin Buschell, two brothers; Norman and John and two sisters; Jean Walzeski and Ellen Foutz. The family would like to request that memorial contributions in Marv’s name be expressed to the Hospice of Okeechobee or Arnold’s Wildlife. Masonic Services will be held Thursday, October 27th at 1 PM at the Funeral Home.
