Russell W. Carter, 84, of Ancient Oaks, Okeechobee, Fl. died on December 6, 2014 at the Hamrick Home Hospice of Okeechobee after a long valiant, hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on November 25, 1930 to Paul Carson and Sylvia Cleora Mayfield Carter in Zionsville, Indiana. In 1949 Russell graduated from Zionsville Community High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1950-1952. He also played semi-pro Baseball, he operated Carter Van Lines with his father and brother. Russell worked at Cypress Gardens, Fl. as a water ski professional and competed throughout the country, he also helped his oldest son operate a world renowned water ski school in Fort Lauderdale. Later in life, he took on the sport of tennis and became a USPTA tennis coach and teacher. He taught and played tennis thru-out Palm Beach County and had a great group of junior tennis students in Wellington, Fl. Russell is survived by his longtime companion; Janis Cowan of Okeechobee, son; Rusty (Mariella) Carter Jr., of Plantation, Fl. son; Robin (Karen) Carter of Danville, Ind., daughter; Paula Jean Macke of Pearl River, La., Six grandsons, One granddaughter and Six great grandchildren. Scott Aaron Phillippi, 45, of Okeechobee, Fl. and Freedom, N.Y. passed away on December 23, 2014 in Okeechobee, Fl. Scott worked in the construction industry as a welder. He enjoyed being with family and friends, fishing, riding ATVs and motorcycles, and just being outside in general. Mr. Phillippi is survived by his son; Andrew Phillippi, daughter; Felicia Schue(David Wnek) and grandson Avery Scott Wnek. Sister; Julie Vosburg and Family. Brother; David Phillippi and Family. Ramona Boland, 81, of Okeechobee, passed away on January 18, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Ramona owned and operated her own business here in Okeechobee for many years. She loved doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, was an avid reader and a master cook. Ramona was of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Boland is survived by: Joyce Murphy and Kristina Schwartz of Okeechobee; brother, Harold Griffin of Brooks, Georgia; three nieces: Bonnie Holland of Brooks, Georgia, Belinda Griffin of Davie, FL, and Janet Herbig Lehigh of Anderson, Ind; a nephew, Robert Herbig. Mona was preceded in death by her Loving Husband, Otis E. Boland, in 1982, sister, Geraldine Herbig O’Neill and brother, Lamar Griffin. Leonard Upthegrove, 57, of Okeechobee/St. Cloud, passed away on January 18, 2015 at Raulerson Hospital. Leonard loved to fish, Fish and FISH! He was a self-employed owner/operator of small engine repairs. He was an excellent mechanic. Leonard was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Upthegrove is survived by his wife of 22 years, Patricia Upthegrove of St. Cloud, FL; daughters, Tori Upthegrove of St. Cloud and Nicole Wright of NC; Son, Eric Stevenson of NC; sister, Joyce Murphy of Okeechobee; brother, David Upthegrove of Okeechobee and niece, Kristina Schwartz of Okeechobee. Faye Roberson, 76 , of Okeechobee and Lake Port, passed away on January 16, 2015 at her home. She loved being with her family and friends. Faye enjoyed fishing, gardening and just being in the outdoors. Mrs. Roberson is survived by her husband; Steve Roberson of Okeechobee, daughter; Anna (Wayne) McKinna, son; Ricky (Lafonda) Tyree, son; Shawn Tyree. Agnes Hawk Snyder, 101, of Okeechobee passed away on January 23, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Agnes loved reading her Bible on the porch and singing Gospel Hymns. Mrs. Snyder devoted her whole life to taking care of her children and the rest of her family. Agnes was of the Baptist Faith and member of Okeechobee Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Snyder is survived by daughters; Margaret Foy, Mary Hawk. Sons; Dwight (Tina) Hawk, Bernie (Fern) Hawk and Norman Hawk, 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by Henry J. Hawk, father of her 8 children and sons; Richard (Leona) Hawk, Wallace (Faith) Hawk and Albert Hawk, Her late husband, Earl C. Snyder. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 1-2 pm with services beginning at 2pm, at Okeechobee Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Lindell Selvey Officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Okeechobee. Max T. Buckhalter, 67, of Moore Haven Florida passed away on February 26, 2015 at his home. Max was a Master Electrician and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers # 394. He enjoyed Nascar, Fishing and was the World Champion in Fast Draw in 1980-1981.
